Welcome

Over its near half decade in existence, Elite has become an influential force as a unit within the gaming community. Founded in October of 2006 Elite was created based on values that they believed every clan should have. In addition, Elite felt a strong obligation to provide a clean atmosphere where anyone would feel comfortable and enjoy themselves. Over our years of existence we have run wildly successful public servers, won many matches and in general have accomplished things that most organizations can only dream of. Today we continue to operate under these same values and expectations for both members and the people that game alongside with us. We are continuing to grow and plan to expand our public server hosting once again as the ability to do so becomes available. We look forward to taking the field alongside you! If you desire to be Elite submit an application. For more on the history of Elite visit the History page.

Recently, Apple in particular has been aggressively pushing the newest connectivity interface standard, Thunderbolt (formerly known as Light Peak). Although it received little attention initially, interest and support has been slowly building for it in recent months. Excitement over the interface is greater than ever at this years CES where several clever new products that take advantage of the Thunderbolt interface were demonstrated. Now it is important to note that Intel, who developed the interface intends Thunderbolt to work alongside of the USB standard rather than replace it, USB has finally lived up to the first word in its name, “Universal”, and Intel seems to have neither the means nor the interest Read the rest of this entry »

Below Radar
I recently had a conversation with one of our members about the Battlefield 3 perk “Below Radar” for attack jets. It was such an interesting conversation I felt it was worth a short piece. Although my knowledge of radar systems is limited, I thought it might be cool to share what I do know, demonstrate a real world example of how this perk actually works and look at what I believe are a few misconceptions about military aircraft radars and how they are portrayed in BF3.
The “Below Radar” perk for BF3 is an one of the cooler bonuses I have seen in any game lately. Its based on fact and allows for evasion of active missile threats for an expert pilot in an intuitively obvious way. The perk lets pilots evade air to air missiles by flying low to the ground. Although Read the rest of this entry »

Last week we presented a relatively inexpensive system build that would run BF3 quite well given that Wright and myself restricted ourselves to a 550$ budget. In this installment we will give you, the money bags gamer, a system that will not only play BF3 with ‘ease’ but keep you satisfied for years to come. For our high end build, we set the budget to a reasonable $950 give or take a twenty. Why $950? The answer is simple, after much thought, discussion, and a few hurt feelings (not really), we decided that exceeding our $950 budget was just plain unnecessary and borderline wasteful. For those of you interested in why this is so, Wright will be taking a more in depth look at the concept of future proofing and its flaws in an upcoming article but this is not the place for that explanation. With the release of Battlefield 3 fast approaching, many of us find ourselves reevaluating our systems, some of us uneasily realizing they no longer possess the hulk of a computer they used to. For some of us money is tight and the costs of buying a whole new system premade are too much. The systems at your local Best Buy are expensive and don’t even have good parts. The best way to get yourself back up to date and for the least expense is by purchasing parts and building your own PC. Now many people initially cringe at that concept thinking that they can’t possibly be smart enough to put together their own computer. Fortunately, if you can read, you are probably intelligent enough to do it. It really isn’t difficult and the money saved will make any effort expended worth it, especially once you are comfortably able to play BF3. Read the rest of this entry »
