Battlefield on a Heroic Scale

After playing a dozen or so games of conquest on the Battlefield 4 open beta, I thought it appropriate to share my thoughts. Aside from your expected beta errors, glitches, and crashes I am impressed. Admittedly, my expectations were a little more tempered than they were for Battlefield 3, but regardless, BF4 has largely delivered. Early on I knew the beta would likely be Siege of Shanghai. Based upon the early videos of the map I expected it to be another one of the poorly thought out tiny maps we have grown so accustomed to in BF3. Save Your Headset

HeadsetNearly all of us have experienced that awful moment when you pick up your headset with plans to listen to that hot new song or some cat playing with a cotton ball on YouTube only to discover you no longer have sound on the right side of your head. For those lucky few who are smugly thinking “not me”, mark my words, the time is coming when you too will experience the disappointment of a failing headset. The dismay grows even worse as you realize the headset’s warranty, as many warranties habitually seem to do, ran out just last week. Before you resign yourself to coughing up the cash for a new headset, put your wallet back in your pocket, all is not lost just yet. Odds are good that you can significantly prolong the life of your headset with a little investigation and some careful repair work.

Recently, Apple in particular has been aggressively pushing the newest connectivity interface standard, Thunderbolt (formerly known as Light Peak). Although it received little attention initially, interest and support has been slowly building for it in recent months. Excitement over the interface is greater than ever at this years CES where several clever new products that take advantage of the Thunderbolt interface were demonstrated.
